Laboratory Service
The laboratory at the Policlínica Miramar carries out some 60,000 analyses annually, which implies the practice of over a million analytical parametres. Approximately 60% of the analyses is carried out on patients who attend out patients' surgeries and the rest on hospitalised patients or those who come to the Emergency Department.

The average time of response to emergency analyses is usually less than 30 minutes and for the general analyses some eight hours. Amongst the special tests carried out daily worth mentioning are: tumour markers, infectious serology (markers for hepatitis A, B and C, TORCH outline, HIV, Thyroid hormones, levels of drugs, etc.)
The Molecular Biology is already a reality. The following determinations are carried out:

- Oncogene k-ras ln tumoural tissue (colon, pancreas, polyps and others)
- Papillomavirus of the tissue, smear and urine (low degree cervical lesions, cancer of the cervix and vagina)
